Hi guys, I have a problem, I need to solve. I am programming multiple lightshow-scenes in a DMX -program called QLC+. I want to controll QLC+ with midi from Sonar. I will use 2 laptops, one with sonar, and one with the QLC+, hooked up with separate midi-interfaces on each machine. QLC+ is set up correctly, and with my masterkeyboard hooked up to the midi in on the midi-interface on the QLC-machine, I can controll the lights perfectly with the keys. (Key C1=scene1, D1=scene2, E1=scene3 etc).  When I use the same keys on sonar, the DMX freezes after the first midimessage, and the QLC-machine will not recieve midisignal. I guess this has to do with midi noteoff, but I'm not sure. When my masterkeyboard is hooked up directly to the midi-interface the midi in lamp glows on the midi-interface, indicating continius signal, on the midi-interface on sonar-machine it only blinks when I hit a key. It seems that there is a difference in the midi- signal from sonar vs the masterkeyboard. Anyone who have an idea what's wrong and how to fix it?

I haven't played with midi-controlled lights and Sonar for quite a long while, but will have some time this afternoon and will see if I can dig anything up that might help you.

Hrm, sometimes what the keyboard thinks is one octave SONAR thinks is another. Maybe try an octave or two up or down and see what it does?

That didn't help. Every key in sonar makes qlc stop

Maybe check that Sonar isn't sending some extraneous message like a sysex or program change or something that is confusing QLC.

The only thibg that are hooked on in the global settings are midi note

My guess would be something in QLC. I use Sonar to control lighting consoles (currently hooked up to a NSI MC7532) via midi. As long as I don't let a stray message slip through then it works fine.

Maybe Sonar is sending midi clock signals or QLC is expecting an external clock or something like that? I have never used QLC so I'm not familiar with it. Perhaps you have it set for Show Control instead of standard midi?

Hrm, what's your hardware MIDI to DMX converter? There must be a box somewhere in your chain where MIDI goes in (via 5 pin din or USB) and DMX comes out (probably 3 or 5 pin) right?

2 computers, midi-interfaces between them,  enttec open dmx-interface. Everything work perfectly if I use my masterkeyboard to control Qlc, but with sonar it just reads the first MIDImessage, and then stops working. So in my simple brain that, if the error is in the qcl, the problem would also be there when I use the masterkeyboard
