  • Deleted Bandlab Account, does this mean I lose activation for my Cake Software?

Serious_Noize!
So I asked a Bandlab rep, which it was a real pain honestly to do so, to remove my Bandlab account because I don't want to use that site at all.

First thing Bandlab said in their post was you'd be able to activate your software and don't worry the forums would remain in tact.

Then I get a message saying that in order to secure a smooth transition and such that I needed to created a Bandlab account.

Yes, I do have concerns, and I've been flamed for having those concerns on these forums which apparently have no relevance where moderation goes except the special interest of the new owners. And I suspect this post will be deleted also, along with many as others have complained.

I have no problem creating a new account on another site to be able to activate my previous software, and I don't mind the ad's that might come to my email.  Honestly, from what LITTLE I seen of Bandlab I like what I saw but some of the question I have asked on here keep getting deleted like :

1 :  Can I post my songs and have it set to listen only where someone can't download it, because it is a BAND LAB Site meaning you give up your rights the second you post something on there for fair use??????

2 : Cakewalk is NO MORE, DUH, I get that, but Band lab has access to personal information and post and such things on this site because less face it there are emails and such things, much like Facebook. How do I know that information wont be sold? And I asked that question earlier and had someone try and chastise me for asking that question.

3 : I have no problem with Band Lab, except the fact that they don't want to answer questions or reply to anyone and that people like me who ask them get their questions DELETED. That I do have a problem with. IT SAYS A LOT WHERE TECHNICAL SUPPORT GOES IN THE FUTURE IF I DECIDE TO CONTINUE BAND LAB.

Whoever the owner is of Band Lab needs to consider more than just monetary issues, because you don't just buy a statue and place it where you want to thinking it will be alright with everyone else, that statue has a history to go along with it.

Either way, I guess this thread will get zapped. I will continue to use my Sonar Platinum because it's simply better than anything there is out there. As for Band Lab, until something changes I wont be using there services, and I hope they delete my account AS WAS STATED TO ME IN AN EMAIL. We shall see.

This is probably my last post EVER on these forums, and it will probably be deleted.

So Fair THEE WELL Everyone! Best wishes Cakewalk FRIENDS! As for the rest......... I dunno you and thank GOD FOR THAT!

You're not giving up the rights to your music. No one can do anything to your music unless you allow it to be "forked." You can opt in or out of that when you upload a song. Bandlab, Soundcloud, Soundclick, etc., all need permission to use your music so people can play it on their site. They're not trying to steal your stuff.

BandLab accounts are replacing Cakewalk accounts in the activation process. Without a BandLab account activation will not be possible.

All the software, authorisation systems, etc., that used to be owned by Cakewalk/Gibson is now owned by BandLab.  It is gradually being migrated over to BandLab IT infrastructure.  All Cakewalk customers accounts are being migrated to BandLab infrastructure so that customers can still access everything they've bought and authorise it (if required).

If you delete your BandLab account then....   is it really not obvious?

You don't have to like their site, nor any obligation to participate in any social service of that site. Just signup for the sake of your Cakewalk products activation, and that's all.

I've barely looked at the site, but I did activate my account.  I don't anticipate doing anything other than following up on my Cakewalk stuff.

Yes, that's all I plan to do. As well as the Cakewalk forum, of course. At least at first. There is no reason for paranoia. If they give us reason down the road, then I'll feel differently. But nothing they have said gives me any cause for concern.

I've been too busy to explore the Bandlab website, but I opened an account there with my Cakewalk user name and email, so I don't have a problem with authorization down the road. I have no problem with a web-based music collaboration idea, and when I get around to it I'll probably try to hook up with some people to work on music.

I don't know where the OP lives, but in the United States we have at least three giant companies whose entire business model is to gather extremely sensitive financial information on everybody without government regulation or "victim" permission, and then sell that to other giant corporations who want to know -- for reasons of their own -- about your "credit standing." Last year one of these credit bureaus got hacked and spilled the private data of millions of people. I am not talking about a credit card number. I'm talking about Social Security numbers (sort of a national ID), birthdates, addresses, mothers maiden names  -- everything a criminal would need to embark on massive identity theft.

So far our government has not done anything substantive to punish the nitwits who allowed this breach or to prevent further losses going forward. So I am not going to worry about my account at Bandlab. In fact, my guess is that they have better security than the US company who lost all that data (Hint: rhymes with "Equifax").

I am confused by why it couldn't just be left at this and done with. There is no obligation to use BandLab, and the account setup seems to be a method to identify active users (via email account verification) so that their Cakewalk accounts can get ported over.

I set up an account with same name, same email, then verified it, and let it sit. Taking it beyond that is moot unless you intend to use the BandLab services.

Your questions (and you asked them before) have been answered several times. You are stating repeatedly, your posts and questions are deleted by Bandlab (?). I doubt that. I think they simply have no time left for playschool.

Cheers ;)
