It's a bit of a mind blower reading through it, but once you get into the swing of it, it's actually fairly simple but extremely tedious!!

This setup also made use of drum maps as separate Midi tracks for your articulations.

What is the benefit of this? Is it just to be able to see names for keyswitch articulations in the Piano Roll?

I set up multiple piano roll views with the artics (drum maps) above the actual notes.
 
This makes it much easier (for me) because It's always 100% obvious what I'm dealing with - a note or a keyswitch.
 
Without the drum mapping it's VERY hit or miss and there's no visual feedback regarding the type of articulation you've set to trigger.
