Hi Folks,
Newbie question,---how can I add and effect for let's say, 8 bars only? I don't need it to learn anything,---just come in at bar 8 and go out at bar 16. Thank you in advance!

Set up and automate a send to a buss with the FX in it.

Grum.

Or automate the wet/dry control on the FX if it's in the FX bin.

Grum.

Split the 8 measures into a separate clip, and apply a Clip Effect for just those eight measures.

Thats is what I would do. Maybe because I have done it. Its a great way to add an effect at  just the right place.

Clip effects are very handy.

With clip effects, though, remember that the effect will last only as long as the clip. So if you add delay, either a) accept the fact that it will cut off at the end of the clip, or b) extend the clip length with silence for long enough to accommodate the delay.

Some plug-ins have an on/off or in the case of VST3 plug-ins a host bypass, some have a wet/dry setting. These can be automated. Other solutions are the routing suggestions such as sends or the clip FX bin. The best method (if there is one) may depend on the effect.
