Panu is doing some great things to the look of Sonar.

Can we get Sonar to bring Panu into the fold?  Can we get Sonar to support the Mods?
How cool would it be if Panu was allowed to really work on staff view and other things?

How 'bout it?  Sonar is on a great roll now.  Let's really take it out there. I think Gibson deserves some credit.

I can't get The Bakers to fix drum maps what make you think I can get them to hire anyone?

I thought the whole idea of MOD's were that they were unofficial. So by definition "support" really isn't exactly on the cards. I think what you are saying is give Panu a job from Cakewalks magic rabbit hat budget ;). I'm sure they've got all the MTGox bitcoins somewhere :).

Please don't let Panu go to Cakewalk. That would be the last of any innovation we ever see again.

When Ben Statem went to Cakewalk after starting Sonar Mods we never did see any of his brilliance. He's now just one of a group of coders who has to follow the company vision rather than have the freedom to pursue his own vision for Sonar. He's been responsible for some of the coding in the X series but nothing with that innovative touch that he brought when working on his own.

Thankfully Panu was there to continue what had started and has really added to what Sonar can do.

Noel Borthwick [Cakewalk]
I'd like to think that Ben has done way more innovative things working for Cakewalk than the small hacks he did working on his SONAR mods. You don't have the details of all the things he's worked on here. The flyout EQ, prochannel fxchains, and all the custom color stuff in X3 are only a few of his contributions.
We hired Ben because besides his passion for the software he is a very talented developer. I'm sure he will agree that being paid to work on actual in depth features for our users beats making hacks to the app :)

Didn't Ben have something to do with the Toast screens, or whatever they're called? Pretty cool..

Ben Staton [Cakewalk]
I totally agree Noel, thanks! I'm very happy here, and have accomplished far more since I joined Cakewalk, than I ever could when I was hacking my little toolbar together. I have plenty of freedom to experiment and innovate too, which is what I'm doing right now in fact...

Edit: You're right, jb101, I did implement toast notifications too. I'm still busy trying to make a difference, just much quieter on the forums now that I have deadlines to meet!!!

Ben it is so good to see you. I had no idea you were behind my favorite features in Sonar. Thank you Ben.
