>> I just want color customization back. This fifty shades of grey thing sucks.
>> I can't do anything in X3 except finalize mixes. Editing, impossible.
>> Recording, why record in X3 if you can't edit in X3?

I don't think the problem lies with X3.

Some of it doesn't....a few of our users have SERIOUS vision issues which make the lack of complete colorization a nightmare in certain situations. Let's just say that the limitations we DO have right now CAN make it really tough on others.

Heck, all I need for colors is this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4909348/SonarDD.JPG

And would love it to be possible without it changing my clip colors. That's really my only issue right now. I hate bright grey and don't like that we can't make our console colors dark like what you see. AND...every change we make to a console channel or track in track edit changes the inside colors of the clips. I have a killer clip scheme that I love with fluorescent colors that never stays in tact when I change a track color.

But I think we are making progress within Sonar itself. At least we have something where we had nothing before. :)

How did you do that  ?  That's waaaay better than than the grey or ever so very slightly darker grey version I seem to have. I don't really care for the colours of the rainbow strips I just want some darkness in the CV !

Hahaha! I sent Panu a message one day begging him to come up with a scheme for me based on one of my 8.5 color schemes. He was too nice to take any money (I think I may have donated to him though) and he made me this incredible color scheme you see. We became great friends and did some audio favors for each other, so he updated the scheme for me over time. He has it in one of his Duckbar mods...but the one you see there was the one we did for X1.

The one he has for X3 isn't quite right and doesn't look like what you see. I just don't have the heart to tell the guy something went wrong. He's so cool, he'd spend 3 nights making it right for me. He really is a gem of a human being the same as Ben. Incidentally, though Panu's mods are not supported by Cake and should be used with caution (especially if there are any issues) I've been using them on one of my machines religiously without any problems. The newest version has an awesome protection feature that reverts and brings you right back to where you were before any mods. I'm not trying to push the mods on you or anyone else, but I have been using them since they came out with no issues at all other than the occasional graphic glitch....which Panu fixes faster than you can say "Babe Ruth." Seriously....any issues that get reported, the guy eats them like chocolate. So if you want to try a little something different, it's pretty cool the stuff you can do.

PM me if you're interested in talking more about this stuff. The last thing I want to do is upset the Bakers. But I do feel the Duckbar mod is safe when used correctly and haven't had any issues at all since it came out. :)

My earlier comments about Ben et al were obviously made without any knowledge of the internal operation of Cakewalk.
I'm glad though that it brought Ben out to let us know what he's been upto inside cakewalk. I certainly did not want to imply that Ben's or anyone's efforts at Cakewalk were not innovative because clearly looking at Sonar's evolution is one of continuing innovation.

You've come a long way Ben, from writing a few "hacks" as Noel called them. Thanks to Noel too for his insights.

Very impressed since Gibson took over, great show guys and gals. It just means one thing now for Cakewalk bigger sales as they have a great product and well supported with new patch updates and the forum is very active with  bakers replying directly to forum members. Thats what it's all about.  Great stuff.

Ben Staton [Cakewalk]
I totally agree Noel, thanks! I'm very happy here, and have accomplished far more since I joined Cakewalk, than I ever could when I was hacking my little toolbar together. I have plenty of freedom to experiment and innovate too, which is what I'm doing right now in fact...

Edit: You're right, jb101, I did implement toast notifications too. I'm still busy trying to make a difference, just much quieter on the forums now that I have deadlines to meet!!!

Toast Notifications (sorry that I couldn't remember the name off the top of my head) are way cool.

The fact that you were involved in " The flyout EQ, prochannel fxchains, and all the custom color stuff in X3" says a lot.

These were some of my favourite additions to the X series.

It says a lot about your ability for innovation, and about Cakewalk's open mind/ ability to recognise creative thinking, that they employed you.

Keep it up, can't wait for the next one..

I don't know how much Gibson will play a role in anything, but I can tell you this....from the little I do know from the few Bakers I know.....it's all the Bakery. Their passion for delivering the goods on this product is so intense, it can't really be put into words. They truly want people to be happy with Sonar in spite of what some may think at times.

I remember talking to Noel on a Sunday in a private message working on an issue with me. I can't think of one other CTO I've ever had the privilege of doing that with. Not to mention all the other Bakers that have helped me. It is my belief that they busted their butts on this release and I'd be willing to bet they work it like this from here on out with every release. I'm proud of the DAW I use as well as the people that have brought it to me. Thanks Bakers. :)

Any good ones?

I have 12 email addresses to help with this.  One for audio forums, one for online purchases, one for clients,....  I keep a spreadsheet listing all and every forum and website, including user names and passwords, and security questions, and passcodes,....  When one gets harvested by the Russians I create a new address and replace it.

Got a message today from HardwareHeaven.com to my audio email address. 1st spam in 3 years.  I am way unhappy with whomever shared.
