Thanks. That is very clear. I think the reason I have not had this problem before is that I usually use the "Normal" template, which, as you say, is already routed correctly. I happen now to be using a downloaded MIDI file, so I'll try what you say.
 
 
I have used hardware synths for years, though you might wonder about this since I"m having my share of problems. However, it's hard to  turn my head on these synths. I have a Korg Triton, Korg Kronos, Yamaha Motif ES, Roland Integra 7, and a Roland EXP30. It's hard to ignore these devices. They also sound pretty good. I'm not saying one can't approximate these sounds with virtual synths. It's just that I aready have them, so I"m used to using them. I guess it would be easier in some ways with the setup your propose. Most of the time, I have not time with my setup--ie, they seem to blend pretty easily together.
