I'm thinking you probably cannot install Pro 9 on W7 64 bit. But why not try it?
i would try it, but the op is worried about registry or other windows corruption ( fair enough) but partitioning is a good idea :-)

Hi,

Pro Audio 9.0 runs on Windows 7 64 bit.  In order to install it you must turn off your anti virus software, turn off User Account Control and not try to install in Program Files.  When the installer asks if C:\Program Files\Cakewalk Pro Audio is where to install change to C:\Pro Audio.  The  anti virus software and User Account Control can be  turned back on after installation. HTH.
