As I was drifting off to sleep last night, the words "input echo" flashed through my mind. So great minds think alike, and it wouldn't be the first time I've found that simple step to be the issue. However, still no go.

I will try your track templates momentarily.

I got the following message from XLN:

This preset was saved with a product that you don't own.
You need to purchase or register the product to use this preset.

Also, I tried your .cwp file, but still nothing from AD2, and then JS stopped working. I think the message said:

Cannot communicate with Core GUI ID=4

or something similar.

Also, I feel like I'm in over my head with these files. I found the instructions confusing, because apparently you wrote about 2 sets of files in one post, and I was never sure to which set of files you were referring. I'm torn between continuing to try the first method mentioned in that other post, trying to get your files to work, or chucking it all and trying drum maps.

My first method...the one mentioned by Photo_G in this thread:

http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2961076

is now working.

I have no idea why, but my guess is that I accidentally clicked on the proper combination of ins and outs to get it to work. And I probably had the correct settings at some point last night, minus the crucial Input Echo button. Or maybe the MIDI Gods took pity on me.

I've since saved it as a track template and imported it into another project, and it still works properly.

So I'm going to use this method, and perhaps at some point also try the drum maps method.

Thanks to those who offered suggestions.
