Could someone please tell me if I can still drag the cursor across a portion of my track to mute it until I choose to get it back. At that time, I suppose I could drag across the top of the section to reactivate it.
Thanks.

Perhaps I didn't make that clear enough. I just want to be able to mute certain measures of a MIDI track, but with the ability to undo what I've done at a later date.
Thanks.

"Mute" is the right term. Check the help file for your version of Sonar to see which "tools" will do mute for you. Mute is a non-destructive and undoable (reversible) operation. If your measures are isolated in a single clip, mute the clip. Otherwise, depending on your version, you may be able to select the measures then mute them with one of the tools.

Thanks. That helped me start to figure it out. I have X3, and it wasn't obvious to me how to get rid of the Erase box and change it to a Mute (M) box. I also don't exactly have a Help reference section. The help pull down menu leads me to different places, but not a search box. When I finally realized I had to R click on that Erase box to change it to M, and then looked at another site telling me to scroll at the bottom of the track (similar to what I do with audio data,) I was able to scroll thru the MIDI part I wanted to mute.
Thanks very much again.
