Hey kenny,
No i haven't used kiss box yet but I'm looking at it for a future project. The rtp setup was for an art project with a friend. We had several computers linked up and three control computers set up around a room running pure data and generating midi in real time based on what the machines webcams were seeing and sending the results to pcs and macs for adaptive and generative sound. All via wifi as well.
Every once in a while I'll spook the girlfriend by streaming midi to her mac when I'm playing on the other side of the house. Good fun. :)

hey swamptooth,
that is some wild stuff you were doing and it sure sounds like fun …
thanks ,

Hi,
I use a similar setup to Sacalait.  Because a lot of the people I work with use PT, I have a dedicated workstation that has a Saffire Pro 40 w/PT.  I use the ADAT from it to send or receive from the PT Rig to my Sonar Rig.  It is not so much Using one Rig to control the other's plugs, but more to send the audio to a Specified channel in the other. For example.. There are some effects or instruments that I have in PT or Sonar that I want to use.. Instead of putting up two instances of the same... I just send it and record it via ADAT and make track notes about what it is for the project.

A lot of times for collaboration purposes I also can send my Sonar Stems or tracks via ADAT to PT for ease of use for my associates that use PT. Again making track notes about the tracks specifics. This may be simplistic to what you are wanting but for me .. It does work  IHTH..

Hello LunaTech,

thanks for sharing that …your approach sounds solid and workable …

What I was looking to do was somewhat along the lines of what you are talking about …

I wanted to be able to use instruments and effects from both Logic and X3 interchangeably in projects in real time w out having to render in one app and then send it over to the other DAW VIA an external HD or thumb drive ….

it only took me about 10 hours of experementing to work it out and the cool thing is my solution was very simple to implement using my current hardware ….
now I'm stoked ….

thanks ,

My Giga Studio 3 rig (4 PCs) is still functional for older projects still not finished, even though I've begun to move everything into one PC with Kontakt 5 and Komplete 9 Ultimate.
I'm still not convinced X3 can compete at 1.5ms with my old rig. Time will tell.

The GS3 setup is 1 PC (XP SP-2) running Sonar 4.0.2 as the main work station and 3 satellite (farm animals XP SP-2) that run Giga Studio 3 so I can split up my orchestra sections and have 64 x 3 midi tracks loaded with samples and ready to go. I use MidiOverLan and Forte Ensemble to talk to the 3 hosts.

Forte runs 2 instances East West Gold Orchestra, mainly just for orchestral percussion. I no longer use EW Gold for anything other than percussion.

GS3 libs. in use are Kirk Hunter Emerald, Advanced Orchestra, Some basic Vienna
Sam TrueStrike, EW Rare, Vienna Percussion Pro, Ethno World 3 Complete, and a bunch of other stuff.

Rendering the final is light pipe back into the workstation. All Echo Audio cards: 3 Layla 24, 1 Layla 3G, 3 Gina 24, 1 Gina 3G.

The big perk with this setup is absolutely consistent and flawless 1.5ms latency even with projects of 100 or more midi tracks and never a need to freeze anything.

Hello Steve ,
It sounds like you have had a very advanced set up for a long time . that is awesome …
You also have some real nice Orchestral and sound sets going there ….all the stuff I wish I had ….
1.5ms latency with 100 or more midi tracks and never needing to freeze anything…that is impressive …
thanks for sharing that …..

Well, I used to use FX MAX on two networked computers and used one computer for VST and VSTi's only to generate more horse power (RAM).... but have abandoned this since I have gone 100% X64 (No Longer an Issue). I think CAKE is using some of the code from FX MAX in that I see the module running when I used to use any 32 bit VSTi's.

I also used to send MIDI data to two computers at the same time... one of them to monitor the playback of the VSTi in real time while at the same time recording the MIDI data on the DAW machine.  That too has now been abandoned with the usage of the near zero latency of APOLLO (for effects anyway).

Just bought a second computer because a problem with my main i7. I am wondering what brand and kind of touch screen monitor I should add to take advantage of that feature plus I now want to figure out how to best proceed in using 2 computers. I wonder if I can tap into the power of my second computer by networking it so I can use it like a uad card.
