"Sonar X3 Power is the best yet. Scott has surpassed himself with Sonar X3 Power. Not only is it current with the 5th release of service packs for X3, that being X3e, it also contains how to's of the included plug ins with the program. All the synths, VSTs plus AD and Melodyne are given separate treatment so a beginner can get going fast. The workflow changed from Sonar 8.5 to the X series and Scott shows how you can make the most of custom presets and VST lists to give you the most time to making and editing music.

I have Sonar X1, X2 and now X3 Power, all written by Scott. They are all on my shelf for quick reference, as plug-ins and other modes of the program have changed. Not only is X3 the best version of Sonar, but Sonar X3 Power is the best book on X3.

You will not be disappointed with this book and I urge anyone buying Sonar X3 to buy Sonar X3 Power!"

"Required reading for the Sonar X3 user. Scott handles a complex subject in an easily understandable manner. Both the beginner and the experienced user will benefit from this book. Descriptions of features and operation are well organized and include many step by step procedures that are not included in the Sonar Manual. I have used Sonar since 2008 and virtually every section of this book revealed something totally new to me or expanded on details in areas with which I am familiar. I suggest reading a chapter and then sitting in front of Sonar and trying what you just read... especially for beginners..For advanced users the book provides an easily accessible and concise reference for the many features of Sonar."

Hey Scott, did the size of the font change in X3 Power compared to X2 Power? Based on Amazon's previews, it looks like X3's got smaller. Is this the reason for the decrease in page count? I actually thought the text was perfectly sized in X2 Power.

Hey Kyle... Not sure. I know they adjusted the design and layout so they could fit the same amount of content onto fewer pages. I'll send them a note to make sure they know about your font preference. They're usually open to suggestions.

Hi Scott, I have all your Sonar Power books. I just received X3 Power from Amazon and was wondering if you would be making it available in their "MatchBook" program for Kindle at a reduced price for hardcopy owners, as was alluded to in an earlier post.  It does not show up as an eligible book at the present.

Hi Frank... thanks very much! I really appreciate all your support. I will pass along your request to the publisher, but I have no idea if they'll actually do it. They own the book, so they make all the decisions on how it's sold.

"An essential reference for sonar X3. This book is absolutely excellent for Sonar X3. I am fairly familiar with Sonar, and purchaed it (and X3) primarily for the new comping functionality, but it has all kinds of tips in all the other categories. (I eventually purchased the Kindle version, because the type was too small for my elderly eyes, but am able to adjust it on my Laptop, which is side by side with my main computer with X3. "Excellent. Excellent companion to Sonar X3 producer, well thought out and detailed .
A Bible to producer with extensive coverage from started up to finished product.
In depth extra's on VST's and plugins, surround 5.1 was really a bonus.
I highly recommend this book even with out sonar it is a wealth of useful information."

"More than just a technical reference book - it's a true Musician's Manual! Cakewalk provides its own, very detailed reference manual for Sonar spanning a couple of thousand pages. In addition Cakewalk has quite a comprehensive online help resource.These are fine if you want to know the technical details of the software. However, at the end of the day all it tells you is which button to press in order to bring up a function. Just as a car manual doesn't by itself make driving a pleasure, Cakewalk's own reference manual doesn't exactly inspire you to make music.

Scott Garrigus has managed to do just this. This is a guide that helps you understand Sonar X3 from a musician's point of view - or a composer's point of view. Not only does he cover in detail how the machine works, but he also explains this in a musical context, helping you to understand why you would use a particular function, what the advantages are, how it affects your music.

Every detail of the power of this wonderful DAW (it's the best in my opinion) is covered by Scott. The experienced user can dip in and out as required, or go to a particular topic for more clarity.
