And there was just a thread asking about who has their DAW on the internet and who doesn't, This just re confirms my stay off the net philosophy.

I'll toss another bone, If it were me, I'd order a 128 GB or 256 GB SSD drive. Do your fresh install onto that without touching your original OS drive.

Yeah, best practice for a DAW is to stay off the Internet. My challenge is I have to use it for other things because of money.

On the SSD, I work for a hard drive company and have more drives and storage space than I'll probably ever use.

ADK gave me what I need to return the rig to factory and it's a new dis drive so I feel good about how things will end up.

Thanks

I submitted a ticket for this very issue.  Initially thought X3 just lost contact with my interface, but turns out I had lost ASIO functionality.  Experimented and found WDM drivers still worked.  It happened out of the blue, hadn't messed with my system at all.
I remembered that there had been a significant windows update so I restored my computer to before the updates and it solved the problem.  With a recent virus, who knows...but it may be worth a try.

Well, I didn't have a restore point that went back far enough before the virus to do the restore, so I did a factory restore with the Paragon software that ADK included with the DAW and I'm back in business.

I had to do a lot of software installs, and have some to go, but the system is rock solid and my sound card works perfectly, so I'm good.

After I get my DAW setup with everything the way I want it, I'm going to create a new backup capsule so if I ever have to do another restore, I won't have to reinstall all of my software again.

Since I have the storage, I also increased the amount of disc space that will hold my restore points so I'll be able to hold a longer history.

Thanks again everyone for the help. I'm glad I was in the writing phase of my tune when all this happened. Hey, I even just bought the upgrade from X2 to X3 for $60 bucks while I was at it!
