Check out this poll on the top DAW programs out there. Look first at the top image, and then look at the poll entries.

Notice anything missing?

I never heard of Bitwig Studio. also Sampltude didn't make the list either.

Its odd that a survey should be so limited. Sort of skews the results.

I only heard of Bitwig Studio from their booth at the NAMM show. It's only been out for maybe 2 years; it's a real noob as far as the DAW game goes. And I don't even know anyone who uses it...

A lame survey. One would have thought that the magazine would be staffed by people who know their stuff. Apparently not. More likely, given the high score for Ableton Live, the readership of this particular organ mainly comprises those whose needs are suited to Ableton which (cf Wiki) ..."is designed to be an instrument for live performances ...It is also used by DJs, as it offers a suite of controls for beatmatching, crossfading, and other effects used by turntablists (sic), and was one of the first music applications to automatically beatmatch songs."

Well at least you have heard of it. I find the so called survey to be a little bogus. Not because it includes Bitwig but because it leaves some rather important DAWs off, DAWs with a real track record. No pun intended. LOL

Why include Garageband which is a free program that comes with all Apple computers?

Normally I don't get upset with surveys that leave good DAWs off the list. But what this does is subtlety tell respondents that the survey is geared toward a particular type of music. Though its possible that that publication is also geared for one type of music too. They may know who their readers are.

They may not really care what we may think or how well thought out the survey is. It may be as simple to be able to tout the number one DAW that their readers like as an article that may generate more traffic. I can see the headlines now.

I'm pretty sure the website is mac oriented. I'm sure if Sonar and Samplitude had an OS X version they would be listed.

Maybe but FL Studio is not for Macs either.

FL Studio has a version for Mac. Also, FL Studio is a very good DAW. Use it along with Sonar X3e.

Concerning the subject matter of this thread where does anyone go about finding out the true popularity of a DAW? Meaning copies sold. I asked this on the FL Studio forum and no one seemed to know. There has to be someone who tracks a question such as this.

What they have is an app. They call it FL Studio Mobile it is for the Ipad not a Mac. Win 8 has FL Studio Groove also an app.
