Question for those who've tried Revival...
Is it worth the price of an iLok 2?
Does it do anything that Nomad Factory Cosmos doesn't do?
Thanks!
There are so many "exciter/saturation" plugins...I have Cosmos...it's good...especially for $19...
Revival sounds a little more "analoque/real" to my ears...
Cosmos has more control(s)...and because of that, can be harder to "dial in"...
The real beauty of the VMR is it's low CPU Usage and "Zero" latency according to the
promo...and, if you own VCC, you'll get the VMR VCC module for FREE...
Is it "the be all and end all" of plugins? No...is it nice? Yes...
I was pretty impressed with what Revival did....I was able to get a really nice sound on a female lead
vocal in no time...warmed, clarified, and thickened...was quite nice...
The iLok fear has been "vastly exaggerated". I've had one for years ( 1 & 2 ), and hasn't been much of
a problem...sometimes "minor" issues.
Some just don't like the idea of "Hard" copy protection, as it can't be cracked.
Some don't like that, to transfer a license, you have to pay a $25 fee. There will always be some
"reason". Bottom line, to me, if you're legal, it shouldn't bother you.
BTW, if you buy VMR direct from Slate for $149, the iLok is FREE and you save $49...
I have both and iLok and an eLicenser, which have been just fine...for me...YMMV
