When I add a soft synth if icon now is a midi/keyboard icon.  I did not change anything in setup.  It use to be just a keyboard icon.  I usually add from the browser by double cliping

DIN Connector and keyboard is the default icon for audio tracks associated with a synth. The default icon for an instrument track is a keyboard. It would appear the default insert soft synth options have changed and the "Insert Soft Synth Options" dialog is set to not "ask every time." To bring this dialog up, click the third button from the left on the browser synth tab and set the defaults as needed.
