Will future editions of Sonar ever be MAC compatible?

The Bakers have repeated that there are no current plans for a Mac version of Sonar.

maybe in the future but I would not hold my breath or wait for it, you might be waiting forever.

I would be shocked. Competing with Logic now being priced at $299 would make it an uphill struggle.  An expensive uphill struggle.

I agree! The Mac music software market is already so competitive that I believe Cakewalk have been estimating the realistic profit not being worth the cost of admission. I think the situation now is pretty much the same today as in the early 2000's. I also think that a significant portion of Cakewalk's New User target market consists of the "already got a computer" crowd.

Well, Michael Hoover did say in a quick Computer Music Magazine interview that although he thought that there would be no MAC version of SONAR, that it was much more likely that there would be something new created for that platform.

I agree -- it's tough to compete with LOGIC at it's price point (which is actually $199), but I really don't think there's much other choice -- it seems to me that even though there are large number of Windows users, the 'consumer momentum' does seem to be with the MAC, especially when it comes to DAW's.  It seems that SONAR is now the lone holdout as the only major DAW that is not cross-platform now.  Yeah, I know -- LOGIC isn't either, but hey, it's Apple, and they are trying to sell their boxes.

Well, on the other hand, Logic lost an estimated 70,000 users when it became mac only.

Yup it's different. That's a great position to be in...

I was one of them.  I bought an Atari 1040 to be able to run Emagic Notator.  There was no way I was going to buy an expensive Mac.
