Prediction: this thread will just end up as a continuation of the other two which got locked. People will stop by to voice their shopworn rants about being "ripped off" by the Lifetime Updates plan, others will chime in about how they hope BandLab doesn't turn Sonar into a toy for loop-dragging kids, and then the same old tired discussions about where Cakewalk went wrong will fire up. I hate to say it

Hello Sharke,
I know that you are not a kind of guy  that Chuck describes
in his post above , an exception seems to be  your last post.

Hope you are doing well,
Pragi

It was just a prediction, nothing more. Seems like any kind of "what does the future hold" thread turns into an orgy of the kind of comments described.

This is not a "What does the future hold thread." It is an attempt to encourage people to behave more civilly as they discuss the situation, with the hope that we won't look like such a band of losers that Bandlab will start thinking "What have we done," and just jettison this forum, start their own, and police it adequately, so it doesn't degenerate into the kind of snarkiness that has gotten 2 or 3 threads shut down here. Remember the incredible optimism we had when this news first broke? Where did it go? As the title implies, I think many of us are getting Cabin Fever (you have to live in a sub-arctic climate to understand it, but basically it's a kind of madness that occurs late in the season, when it's starting to look like Spring will never arrive). Well, it's just around the corner. (Unless you live down under, of course. But you get the idea).

And of course, the best one of all, which is that SONAR has really been profitable all along, and Bandlab should just restore SONAR unchanged, business as usual, raking in the profits and forget about all that younger generation nonsense.  Hey, you whippersnappers, get yer hands off my DAW ...  Kids these days.

Ha ! Now we're havin' some fun again (compared to those dark November forum days)
I say Bandlab "take your time", but "don't take too long"

I just think it should be done right, it's going to be tricky getting back into the competitive DAW wars again.
but . . . if too much time goes by, most will have spent money and committed elsewhere, many already have.
Bandlab and the new Bandbakers certainly have their work cut out for themselves.

Agree with all, except, BandLab is not our boss. We are their customers, and they should be focused on keeping us as just that. It is not Bandlabs fault for any of Gibson/Cakewalk’s promises not kept. I have moved on to another DAW, but I will certainly give BandLab a shot at retaining my business. After all, they stepped up after we all watched the collapse and eminent demise of our beloved Sonar.

I agree except that, while I like, appreciate and admire most of the long-time users here who have a wealth of experience, I really think the existing base isn't commercially very significant.  Mr. Meng has indicated an intention to be generous to the existing base to keep them involved with the product.  I believe that is wise. The user base is an asset, but as an in-kind thing for product support, not as a major revenue source.

This business will only work by attracting in a new generation of users.  The product is well below critical mass today.  It is clear that Mr. Meng has done some daring, innovative things already, so I look forward to where this goes.

Sir Les
could be putting the DAW at the centre of the Garden for it to go missing, is not the right place for it to be put?...just like money is not the centre piece...to restore onto...life...was it a tree, or a bush?...just to make sure....it was nothing atomically ununtainium undone by the doers...should put back properly by a certain method sown...in a certain way...amends all things when done by those who did do the altering of....Freely having food, and safe keepings of the kids!...pondering the fisher king....is something missing in action, because of ....bribery using...might be something we all start to ponder how old this method is of them being used to make futures...always having problems to solve for........perhaps...might be behind the wars now needed, or are addicted to make in all things, with all things...altering the proper for improper born under it?///....if the be twisted...what makes them be twisted?..and go to ruin,,much.....always warring is not the true way to peace health and happiness...yet here we go...and they never say sorry with trillions, still not enough!...so toss in what is not asked for instead...give a chicken..or a squirrel..etc...makes me laugh just imagining the tax man opening the box,...lol

Thanks for expanding my vocabulary with this useful new word, I live in Norway ... and now I have a better way of describing how I feel :) Cabin fever, definitely.

Sure, if you like.  I don't think Mr. Noel would be offended.  But I get your point. His family name is Kuok, so the western way to address him might be Mr. Kuok.

On a serious note, I am looking forward to see what direction BandLab takes the rebranded Sonar.

Exactly!  They will need our full support.  BandLab is still a startup, that is only funded through 2018...

They will need to start making money at some point!

I will just be happy to see Sonar continue in ANY form, as I had been resigned to no more Sonar development at all at the end of last year.
