This is not a "What does the future hold thread." It is an attempt to encourage people to behave more civilly as they discuss the situation.

Absolutely. It's been less than a month since the announcement! I'm sure BandLab has to do a lot of work behind the scenes to complete the transition to new owners. IMHO the best way to use this forum is the way it has always served us best - sharing ways to get the most out of Sonar.

We know all the important points: Sonar will continue, it will remain a desktop app, it was purchased to expand BandLab's offerings, and the company appreciates the loyal user base. That answered my questions...back to music .

Sorry to burst your bubble but it will not be called Sonar.

I'm pretty sure Craig already knows that

Two threads locked, one of them the main discussion thread for the hugely anticipated rebirth of Sonar. It appears to me that folks are getting just a bit antsy. Perhaps cabin fever plays a role also; it certainly is bad where I live this time of year.

Can we all take a few deep breaths, step back a pace or two, and wait like good Ladies and Gentlemen, for the roll-out of Sonar's successor? I know emotions run deep in all kinds of ways here. But this bickering about things we have no control over, which are simply going to be whatever BandLab decides they're going to be; is not only unseemly in itself, but is the last thing BandLab needs to see as it works on delivering this baby. Doesn't exactly make us look good.

In a way, they're going to be our new bosses. We need to put forth a better image here. We're acting like spoiled children (well, some of us are), who had their toy taken away, have just heard they will be getting it back, and can't manage to delay their gratification for a few more weeks. We're adults, not children, so let's start acting like it. This forum is a wonderful place, and it's going to continue, along with Sonar. What's not to like about that?

I'm using "The DAW Formerly Known As SONAR" to make music. What are all of you up to?

Actually, the DAW I'm currently using is still known as SONAR. And it is still useful for making music - so I'm using it.

Agree with all, except, BandLab is not our boss. We are their customers, and they should be focused on keeping us as just that. It is not Bandlabs fault for any of Gibson/Cakewalk’s promises not kept. I have moved on to another DAW, but I will certainly give BandLab a shot at retaining my business. After all, they stepped up after we all watched the collapse and eminent demise of our beloved Sonar.

Best, most 'Doggone' comment I've heard for some time.
A most insightful and pragmatic input ...................
Cheers to you PFOSSI

Words ought to be a little wild for they are the assaults of thought on the unthinking.  ~John Maynard Keynes

Coming from the guy who made the FAQ You comment, which was actually nothing more than an artfully playful and really humorous triple edged sward, which let the reader decide what it meant depending on mood, hostility, sense of humor, and or their lack of.   LoL

Sometimes words need to be a little wild to assault incessant fear mongering with baseless claims of impending doom as well.  Especially when it pertains to conflated speculations that are none of our business, and or things we have absolutely no control over.
And certainly has absolutely effect on the form and functionality of SONAR, ya know, the very reason for the existence of this forum in the first place?

I also believe it’s healthy to honestly and frequently ask yourself questions about your own goals and motives. I know it helps me to identify the differences between the things I’d like to believe are factual not always aligned with the truth. And that helps me in my efforts to achieve my goal to not make the same mistakes again.

So if you want to point fingers and believe I am personally responsible for having a very over cooked forum thread locked?
You are of course as free to do so as I am for seeing the humor in you taking such an offended posture and pointless position without anything to gain?
You might really want to consider honestly asking yourself why????
Trust me, it's only terrifying the first time you honestly give it a try, and hurts less and less the more times you practice.

Again, the purpose of this thread was to encourage us to be patient, and definitely not to point fingers at anyone. I'm pretty sure I've had threads closed for things I said. It's no big deal. The mods do what they feel they have to do, like all mods.

Also, I think it's in our interest to present a decent face, so to speak, to our new associates. No, not owners. I didn't say that, I said "in a sense they are our new owners." As has been pointed out, we don't own our software, we get a license to use it. And we definitely won't own the forum. They will, and they may be less tolerant of endless bickering about things that don't matter anymore.

It was way back in November that "the news" hit. Many of us were devastated. We tried and purchased other software. We resolved to use sonar as is forever. Some had different reactions; they may even have been amused how "hard" the rest of us were taking it; after all it's just software, etc. And that is fine, perfectly valid. People are different.
Viva la difference.

So, maybe we can hang in there a bit longer. Let me tell you, three Nor'easters in a row up here in New England, has me wild with cabin fever, when most of the rest of the country is bathed in cherry blossoms, or at least has a few daffodils popping up. But I know that Spring will bring me not just flowers and gentle breezes from the South, but a new Sonar rising from the ashes.

P.S. Our fourth Nor'easter is due to arrive in a few hours. If I can hang in there, you can too.

Cool bro, chilly, breath in, breathe out, maybe you can use SONAR to write a song or 10 about that. Always worked for me.

Thanks for this great quote, the world makes more sense to me after reading it.

Appreciate your writing, and was wondering about one thing. In some other post you where using the word "Procrastination Station" which I think is great ! Is it your own invention ? Would it be OK if I used as a title for a song ? Currently the working title is "Computer ate my life" ... but "Procrastination Station" would be better as a title.
