Being nice is one thing but too be bombarded with these threads is long on the tooth and at some point the tension needs to be released. Common sense should at some point be pointed out. Lifetime is not one sided it goes both ways...no matter how long you have been using the product.

I have spent close to 1600.00 dollars on Cakewalk products over the years knowing full well that I own nothing but the permission to use the product, I appreciate the fact really.

When I look at these thread's it befuddles me why a licensee doesn't read or understand the EULA, you know, that thing you check off when you load the software that you have to agree too BEFORE you install, that was with Cakewalk NOT Bandlab, as a reasonable assumption given the fact it's a different entity.

Meng has already stated they will work with us, more than fair in my opinion so let's wait and see. These threads demanding otherwise are completelty unfair whether that creates the impression of being hostile to point that out is in the minds of those looking to shoot down the forum anyway... Once agian in my opinion.

This makes me think the same way about Facebook, all this fuss about stolen data that anyone who signed up for Facebook or it's app's agreed too in their "Terms of Agreement".

Being hostile doesn't make hostility go away.

So many posts in the past 5 months, starting with their 'Cakewalk life story' . DOS this, Windows 3.1 that, Soundblaster, floppy etc...

LOL yeah that's been grinding my gears as well. It's like there's some kind of template going around. "Let me just say that I've been using Cakewalk since 1989. Here's a photo of my original floppies, which I still have. Here's a list of the versions I've used since then. I was shocked to learn recently that blah blah blah, lifetime updates, blah blah blibbety outrage disgust sadness disappointment." Does tend to get a little samey.

It almost makes it look like Cakewalk couldn't get any new customers over the last 30 years.  I suppose that would explain their finances if they hadn't gotten any new blood over such a long time span.

they got at least 23 new customers in the last 30 years...

but then we've all been here forever, so ... (etc)

Well, not exactly. Mr Meng writes there will be some "Sonar based DAW" and Sonar customers will probably get it for free.

Also note that BandLab has "everything for free" claim. And that can continue for unpredictable time.
On one side, there are articles BandLab will have commercial success in the near future. But:
a) that is not possible with "everything for free" approach till it is at least filled with Ads
b) taking personalities into account... that is not "a must".

I have the central store of on big German music on-line near me. In the middle of nowhere. I was there several times and the number of visitors was less the the number of friendly personal.
Take several guitars and amps into separate sound isolated personal room, and catch someone in case you can not connect/play yourself. Enjoy the day
If you think that can not be truth: https://www.session.de/filialen/walldorf/
Notice the address, check in Wiki: the town population is  ~16k, nearest really big town is ~100km away (and they have another store there: https://www.session.de/filialen/frankfurt/ ).
Can that have commercial sense? I do not think so. Yet it exists since ~10 years.

I mean in case someone has money, he is free to do whatever with them.

Cakewalk as a company is no longer in business, therefor it is true.
The rest isn't direct quotes, but interpretations of what was written

I could be pretty p'o'd about things.  I bought the upgrade to Platinum for $399 a MONTH before the announcement that Cakewalk was going under!  It's life.  I don't expect s**t from the new owners except allowing me to access my previous versions I paid for.  But at the end of the day they don't have to do that.  Yeah, as for the "lifetime upgrades", won't happen, and righteously so.
