That doesn't make anything untrue about the stated comparisons between the 02R and Sonar X3. The Yamaha is a good mixing desk. But it has a limited number of channels, in modern IT terms it has ancient FX algorithms and you can use any kind of hardware you want with Sonar. So the 02R literally has nothing over Sonar for the stated purpose. It's good hardware and it's better than a lot of hardware you could buy to use with Sonar but that wasn't the question.

im a big fan of analog consoles myself.
i like the sound and the purity.
funny how there was a big rush to bring digital to the for front but yet companys have been trying to emulate tape compression in plug ins for a few years now.
 
if you think about it, it all comes down to the digital converters really.
if you have good digital converstion, you have yourself professional sounding equipment.
this of course with the exception your gear is not made of tinker toys.
