Hi Fellow Sonarians,

With the release of Ozone 6 Advanced and its dynamic EQ.. I have since learned (mostly from this forum) also that there are other products that have this feature. Is it not the same or something different if in Pro channel one could load lets say the sonitus via fx chain behind the Quad curve.. Setting the quad curve at a targeted attenuation (700 hz for example with a tight Q. This is followed in the signal flow by the Sonitus multiband compressor with its middle band centered around the 700hz frequency and range made as tight as possible.

Will this give a similar effect or would something like a setup with an EQ output being side chained into a Mulitband Compressor be closer.  I know it may not give the graphic representation but wondering is this a similar premise. Thanks

I have Gliss EQ from Voxengo (had it for many years) and have never found a good use for it.

Many compressors can achieve a similar result, as long as they have a sidechain filter. For example, I use Fabfilter Pro-C for de-essing in lieu of a dedicated de-esser, multi-band compressor or dynamic EQ.

However, a multi-band compressor (or filtered broadband compressor) isn't exactly the same thing as a dynamic equalizer, even though in many situations either will do.

Hi ...
Thanks for the responses guys... John.. your perspective kinda hit me like a ton of bricks.  I had been expending a good deal of emotional energy regarding O6's release.  You have helped me with that.. (I needed that).

Bit I will jump right into this "engrossing and probably entertaining subject matter" just for fun..

I have to say that your response is one of the fullest I have had from anyone in a long time. You nailed the essence of what I was saying with total understanding. Plus you expressed it so darn well; I am impressed to no end.

Thank you for posting such a great post.

Seems that you'll have to try the trial of ozone 6 for yourself as to if it works for you but here is a video
comparing it to version 5.

It costs more than a DAW for advanced so I won't be even trialing it!
