Pops when punch recording

I'm recording in "Comp" mode. I set the Now Time and start to punch record but my new recording plays back with a "pop" noise between the previous take and the new punched in take. I tried to add a larger crossfade but the pop is still there. How can I punch record a section without creating a "pop" noise between the previous and current take I'm recording? Thanks a lot, Milton.

Not near my DAW, but there is a setting,,, somewhere,, to do with "at zero crossing" for cuts. This will move your cut to a zero crossing of the wave form. Otherwise you will get a artifact.

Preferences>Customization>Snap to Grid - has an option you can check, and it is called:
"Snap to Nearest Audio Zero Crossings".
Could that be what you are looking for?

I have this problem sometimes and will try the fix--thanks.
I have also never had a transport button on a console (analog or digital) that didn't also make a little bit of noise in an open mic, but that's a different issue and purely mechanical.

I think you got it Konrad. The "Snap to Nearest Audio Zero Crossings" was checked correctly. But I was recording with 6 open mics and maybe that was the cause (Sonar simply recorded the click noise on my keyboard as it was close to the open mics). How did you "delete" the noise you got when having open mics and hitting the transport?

Some of these smart guys here may know, but I would blow the wave up really big, see if I could find the click, and then either cut it out if nothing else was going on at that instant, or try an extreme low cut filter. But I am sure some others will know more sophisticated techniques. I'm just a songwriter.
Good luck, bro.

You can zero in and highlight the offending peak, then use the gain tool and shut it off too.
