  • Waveform getting cutoff?

I can't figure out why the first beat of the track I record gets cutoff. During recording it records the waveform that I want from the start of the sound, but when I stop recording and press play for playback then it moves the waveform backwards to the beginning of the clip, cutting off the initial peak or attack. In other words, it cuts off about 1 second of the sound. Why is it doing this and how do I get it to playback what I record?  Is it a setting?  Snap or nudge settings doesn't make a difference.

If anyone knows how I can attach a file let me know so I can give a visual, but I don't see that option anywhere.

I never heard of this before but see if automatic delay compensation is causing this issue.

To attach an image, upload the file to a server somewhere and post the link to the image.

That seems like it might be a latency issue or a Delay Compensation issue.

Have you compared your real life latency to that which is reported in SONAR?

What size sample buffer are you using?

Do you have any effects in your project that use look ahead functions or have some other feature that increases latency?

Those are the kind of questions you'll want to consider.

Where is the automatic delay compensation? My "buffers in playback queue" is set to 4 and buffer size is 240 ms

I hear what you're saying Mike, but latency and SONAR cutting off the waveform seems like to different issues.  The track plays back fine with no delays it just cuts off the initial attack.  For instance, when I tried to record the kick it only plays back the sustain part of the kick and not the attack

Look for the PDC button in the Control bar.

Ok, here is a visual.  The left clip is a screenshot during actual recording and the clip on the right is what it turns into after I've pressed stop.  As you can see that the peak is cutoff on the right, but on the left you can see that it initially recorded it.
