Hey folks. I was a member of the old Forum and havent been here since its gotten all new fangled. BUT.. to the point..

Owing to a sudden meltdown of my main drive Ive had to reinstall everything including Sonar. I've managed to get all my plugins working again which is lovely (NOT certain about their settings.but that may be answered with my main question). However, even though I've reinstalled my VSTIs and Sonar recognises them the cwp files often do not. For example, Absynth gets picked up by the Plugin Manager but when I open a cwp it says it's missing. If I were to delete Absynth from the synth rack and then add it again all my previous settings would be lost.

SO i did some snooping round the net and found a coupla posts which said that what I needed to do was find the Shared Presets folder from my old installation and c & p the contained folders to the new location under Users/Roaming etc. This I have done but sadly nothing's changed. With around 80 ongoing projects in there I really cant afford to lose so much information.

Does anyone have some advice? If so, please talk to me as if i'm an eight year old!

Many thanks
Mark

I believe it's a common issue to loose all your pre sets from soft synths when you re build your system. There is a way to ferret some of them ( pre sets) out of the folders if they are still available on the old drive but I think there's a different method for each synth so it will be a long haul.
This is why a lot of folks have said they always bounce their synth tracks to audio as a back up plan for these situations.
Basically it's not a good idea to not finish projects in a timely manner. The few times I've done that I more or less had to re build all my plug ins and synths. The only one that remains the same is good old ( boring) TTS-1. Session drummer I managed to re build because I copied the old folder over from a data drive back up. I have my own samples in there.
