My TTS-1 now makes nothing but terribly distorted sounds, the kind you'd get if you plugged a line level output into a mic input - just awful, and not in any way usable. All the sounds and channels do the same thing. I've tried screwing around with MIDI channels and I/O, but I don't really know what I'm doing there, and nothing I've tried changed the sound at all. All other soft synths work normally. It used to work, and I don't use it that much so I don't know when it stopped working. I'm using an old Roland D-50 as a controller.

Can anyone suggest what might have gone wrong and what I can try to fix it?

If you are using the TTS-1 at a sample rate of greater than 48Khz, it sounds very distorted.  Are you using it in a project that has a sample rate of greater than 48Khz?

However, there is a way to make it work in a project greater than 48Khz.  (I'm doing this from memory, so this might not be exact.)  If you press the "System" button on the TTS-1 interface, it brings up a System Settings dialog.  I think there's an Option button on that dialog.  Pressing that should bring up a tabbed dialog that has an Options tab. On the options tab, make sure you check the "Light Load" check box.  Close out the dialogs and the TTS-1 should sound as you expect.

By the way, this setting is NOT persisted, so you have to set it every time you use the TTS-1 in a project with a sample rate greater than 48Khz.

Hope this helps,
Paul

Paul - Right you are. I checked the "light load" box, and TTS-1 is back. Thank you!
