Hi Folks,

I searched the forum, but couldn't find anything on this. I'm trying to use the TS64 transient shaper, but it keeps changing the settings on me. I get it dialed in how I want it. Then, the next time I press play, the settings are different. It's like there's automation on the track, but there isn't. Has anyone encountered this before? Anyone figure out a way to fix it?

Thanks,
Ben

I don't have the problem, but that said, I believe there is a lot of confusion about where the focus is for the mouse-wheel.

I'm guess that you, like me use the mouse wheel to scroll up and down in track view and do any number of other things. If Sonar believes the focus is on a parameter in TS-64, it will spin it when you spin the wheel.

I have found faders moved without my intending it. Any number of things. Pan pots. Whatever isn't automated. Things with automation immediately snap back when you hit play.

Try setting the TS-64 as you want it and close it rather than hiding it or using shift+x to make it transparent.

See if the problem still occurs after that. And I suggest you become careful with the mouse-wheel.

Thanks for the suggestion, Geoff. I rarely use the mouse wheel (I probably should more), so I doubt it's that, and the first time I noticed it having changed the settings was after the GUI was already closed. Additionally, it always changes the settings to the exact same values and for multiple parameters at once, which would also seem doubtful if it was the mouse wheel. Thanks for taking the time to respond, though. I appreciate it.

Definitely strange. I got nothing then.

I suppose I could follow up asking if it is in the old FX bin or the pro channel.

Obviously if you import a pro channel backup that would overwrite it.

Do you work with multiple projects open at once?

Old FX bin. I do work with multiple projects open at once, but I only had the TS64 loaded in one of them, so I don't think there would have been a conflict or the potential of confusing instances of it. Let me know if anything else occurs to you. Thanks.

Sounds like it's reverting to a preset or calling up the default preset for some reason, so maybe try saving what you want as a preset. After you get the settings as desired, name the preset something like "temp" using the save option in the header. If you're not familiar with this, check out my tip. See if that "sticks."

If not, try this. Call up the default preset and "save as" under a different name, like "new default." Now when you get your settings right, save it as "default" and overwrite the default preset. What happens if you do this?

Note however the reason why I had you save the original is that the presets migrate from one project to another. So the default in another project will be the same preset as the one you saved as the default.

This is definitely not normal behavior, I use the transient shaper quite a bit. It would help to know if when it changes settings, it's to a specific preset, and whether the preset name changes in the header.

Thanks for the preset tip, Craig. I'll try that out and report back.

Do you have a snapshot of settings set up somewhere?

Try disabling Automation envelopes on surrounding tracks. I'm curious if there's something odd there, and in this Project only. I've not seen this issue exactly, but other weirdness that's similar.

Hmm... further weirdness, but, first, thanks to everyone for their replies. Sorry I haven't posted in a few days.

Maybe the project I've been working on is corrupt. I can't reproduce the issue in a new, empty project. That said, I can't reproduce the original issue in the project I've been working on either. I have, however, been experiencing other issues with the TS-64 in that project. The first time I tried to load it today, I was unable to pull up the manual entry box by double-clicking on any of the parameters values and, after clicking on the attack value a couple times, Sonar crashed. Sonar hasn't crashed again since I relaunched, but I've still been unable to get to the manual entry box for any of the parameters.

Besides the project potentially being corrupt, it makes me think that perhaps the TS-64 isn't the most solid plugin. Although I'm unable to reproduce it currently, this isn't the first project in which I've experienced that original issue of the values resetting. For the time being, I'm using the transient effect in Alloy. It has fewer parameters, but isn't doing anything unexpected.

Thanks again for everyone's input!
