Ya, yet another DAW survey, I participated in this one. This will reflect the Canadian Market as the Magazine is published here. It's a good magazine by the way. Been getting it for over 25 years. Not sure why Melodyne is on the list as I don't think of it as a DAW?  But if you removed Pro Tools for the equation Sonar is way up there with the rest.

Which digital audio workstations do you use on a regular basis (select all that apply)?
Pro Tools – 43.90%
Steinberg Cubase – 18.29%
Apple Logic Pro – 17.07%
Apple GarageBand – 17.07%
PreSonus StudioOne – 12.20%
Cakewalk by Roland SONA – 10.98%
Adobe Audition – 8.54%
Sony ACID Pro – 6.02%
Ableton Live – 4.88%
Celemony Melodyne – 4.88%
Propellerhead Reason – 4.88%
Cockos Reaper – 4.88%
FL Studio – 2.44%
MOTU Digital Performer – 2.41%
Steinberg Nuendo – 1.22%
Other – 10.84%

I personally do not consider Audition a DAW either as MIDI support was dropped from it completely when it was rebuilt; but it does have internal wave functionality (sampling, slicing, noise reduction) that I use from the utilities menu within SONAR.

Ya I agree, as then why didn't they include other "Wave Editors". Most can do multi track recording  but  they are not what most would think of as a DAW.  A DAW is a system that works with MIDI and Audio (and Video.) A audio only system is a wave editor, A midi only system is a Sequencer.  Video Editors will support basic audio editing and recording and are not DAW's either. Are they called VAW"S?  Na..

The non-DAW choices for DAWs tells you all you need know about the knowledge of SOME respondents.

Interesting how Sonar is still listed as Roland.

The inclusion of non-DAW applications in the published results makes you wonder about the knowledge of some professional sound magagzines.

Yes the magazine picked the list of DAWs, not the readers. Lets face it, their professionals and use Pro Tools :)
If the survey was in a magazine aimed at the home studio market I would think the results would change and even Reaper would fare better. Anyhow Surveys don't show us anything we don't already know. But myself I was happy to see they actually included Sonar as I've seen a few snobbish surveys that didn't because their heads are stuck up there Apple Holes...

And if they are unaware that Roland no longer owns Calkwalk then Calkwalk should supply a press release. The Magazine is full of new product releases including software. It's up to the companies to make sure all publications receive the up to date info.
This is a good chance as a letter to the editor pointing out the mistake would be in line.
I do know this magazine is sent free to every music store and studio in Canada. That's why I get it.

Some people might be too busy making music to respond to another DAW survey.
