Hi,

My Boss GS-10 sends Sysex messages rather than MIDI, and I would like to use it as a control surface for VST's within SONAR.

1. Is this possible using ACT Learn?

I have set up "GS-10" as a generic control surface, and just for a test, am trying to synchronize the Preamp/Speaker Gain Control with the Dim Pro Eq Gain. I enable ACT Record and Midi learn on both R1 and the knob on Dim Pro, wiggle the knobs, exit ACT learn, and nothing happens. (The active controller Technology does say Dimension Pro.)

Sonar shows MIDI activity, and I can see the incoming sysex messages in MIDI Ox. However, the SysEx message is greyed out in the Midi Cell Properties for R1, so I can't enter anything.

Any suggestions how to proceed? I'm confused....

I have the GS-10, Thats a bad choice for a midi controller. I just use mine for guitar prcessing.

Well, I agree, of course. I'm just exploring possibilites in case Amplitube2 adds midi learn when the StompIO comes out (the Preamp layout are very close to Amplitube's). If worst comes to worse, I'll use the UC-33e....

This thread is over 7 years old, how did you find it?

The GS-10 is not intended as a Midi controller,  the SysEx dumps it produces are not intended to be used as controller messages.
