Is there a difference between the "upgrade" from AD1 to AD2 (€80 on their website) and the current offer on cakewalk shop (various AD2 packs, which apparently include AD2) which cost less than the upgrade itself?

In other words, would I get the same 'upgrade' from AD1 to AD2 if I bought one of the AD2 packs from Cakewalk website?

I would like to know this too

Well my "trial" on the Prog, Pop, and Rock sets will be up today even though I was told I should have the full version od AD2.
Curious to see if there will be any instruments to work with after that. Called Cakewalk and the respresentative did not have answers to these questions and basically told me all he could do was email AD on my behalf. I asked via email if I could have a fresh version and serial # and they said they could not do that and I never received an email responce to that question from AD. Thanks everyone for you responces to my issue.

The AD2 FAQ (bottom of http://www.xlnaudio.com/upgrade/) says this:

"Note: Your AD1 "core product" and some ADpak content have been divided up into individual AD2 ADpaks and MIDIpaks:

AD1 is replaced with the Studio Pop/Prog/Rock ADpaks, the Pearl Masterworks Piccolo Snare Kitpiece and the AD Legacy, Bread'n'Butter and Beats'n'Pieces MIDIpaks."

So my reading is this; if you upgrade AD1 to AD2 at xlnaudio you'll end up with two instruments with the same/similar content. The kits in AD1 will appear in the Studio ADpaks in AD2.

My guess is if you buy packs via Cakewalk - without upgrading - you'll have AD2 but it will only contain the packs you have purchased. I could be wrong, but the relative pricing suggests this is how it would work.

How did you fix it?

I have a similar problem where the Sonar AD2 plugin shows trial versions of the Studio Pop/Prog/Rock ADpaks and also some of the beats are missing. However, the standalone version doesn't show the ADpacks as trials and has all the beats intact. I've also noticed that the computer ID in the standalone is different than the computer ID in the plugin.

I have Sonar X3 Producer and had installed AD2 when I first installed Sonar and it was working perfectly. Then one day I opened a Sonar project that used AD2 and there was no sound from AD2 and the plugin said the product had expired. When I opened the XLN installer it said AD2 needed upgrading, which I did and since  then I have had this problem.

I have emailed XLN and so far received no reply. I have uninstalled AD2 and reinstalled and still have the same problem.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Hello scarts,
I received an email from Gustav from XLN and he gave me a
"work-around" link in the email:

"Hi,I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. This is a really strange case.I have a workaround I'd like you to try. Please follow these steps:1. Click the AD2 logo in the top center of the plugin window and note the Computer ID.2. Login to your account at www.xlnaudio.com and go to this page:
It's very important that you are logged in and use the exact link above, otherwise you will be redirected to a different page.3. Click "Add a Computer" and fill in the required details, including the computer ID present in AD2.4. Run the XLN Online Installer and try loading AD2.Does it work..? "

I am not sure if the link will work for you. Maybe delete the computer registration of the one that is not working when you log on to your online account and re-register again with the id that works? It took me a while to hear back from Gustav at XLN.
I hope this works for you. I tried and re-tried several things I received in emails from Cakewalk and XLN. Your best bet
is to keep trying to email XLN.

Thank you,

Do just that. Go to devices and if your interface is on and hooked up it will show up in the friendly name. Add it to input and output if that's what you are using for the output and click ok.

Fwiw I'm pretty disappointed in the Addictive drums support. A Co. with a product like that that has such poor to almost no support is mind-boggling. They really need a phone number you can talk too and used to have that and they even did away with the forum that was a really nice place. Addictive drums may be the best VST drum sound out there and just incredible sounds but the buck stops there. They also need to invest in a editing software like EZ drummer 2 which is an awesome program and keeping me away from addictive drums but I'm slowly learning to intergrate them together. Sorry for the rant just thought it was necessary.

One more thing is on the upgrade there are two options one for $79 and one for $99 so if you chose $79 the ad packs aren't added so it's possible that's why the adpacks weren't there or showed up as trial. I'm also assuming you registered the product.
