You might want to let NI know about this too because I don't think this is a Sonar issue. I mean all those shortcuts automatically disable when renaming tracks and stuff.

I have failed at being humorous. :-(
I thought it was funny.

Did you try clicking the little keyboard icon at the top right of the plugin's window? You've got the buttons S R W and then the keyboard. That button means "give all keystrokes to plugin"

Yep that fixed it !!!! YAY !!!! The keyboard icon turns blue when the keyboard is set to work with GR and white when it's set to work with Sonar....

It was getting pretty funny there...I'd type in a preset name and all kids of things would happen !!!! LOL !!

Not the same thing exactly, but I would like to do a selective disable of keyboard shortcuts.  For example, I use some all the time (like D for Dock and P for Preferences), but some of the others wreak unintended havoc—and I often don't even know what I did or how to undo it.  It should be an easy matter for Cakewalk to provide a checklist of shortcuts in Preferences and let someone uncheck the undesired ones.  A SELECT ALL or DESELECT ALL would give djwayne what he needs.  (You would have to use the menus to get Preferences back and reselect them, but that is not a huge deal.)

Glad there is a fix or workaround for the problem, but I still think we need this function. SMOP

I got the answer I needed. I just have to remember to activate the keyboard icon in GR5 while searching and I'm good to go.

@konradh... I thought you could customize shortcuts in X1. If so you could just change the ones you don't want to keys on an area of the keyboard that are more out of the way so they are less likely to get pressed accidentally. Just a thought.

There seems to be some keyboard shortcuts that are permanent and can't be changed.

While there's no global keyboard shortcut disable function, you _can_ assign individual shortcuts to the Do Nothing command found in the Global Bindings list. This even works with the default shortcuts.

That's a little annoying. I have old video games like that and I just don't bother playing them because I don't like the bindings. One funny thing I'm finding while I work in X1 is, even though I haven't really done any audio stuff for a couple of years I find my fingers wandering to the old Nuendo shortcuts. lol
