In Zebra, you can rename and save the patch in the preset box in the upper left corner of the GUI. I wish you could rename and save in the main patch window,I wonder if it will ever be fixed?

The same thing happens in Studio One 2 when you use MeldaProduction's MNotePad, and there's no option to turn off all keyboard shortcuts at once.

@konradh,

I was able to get the "Do nothing..." function to work for all bindings except those marked as reserved. I did this by going to Edit / Preferences, selecting the key I want, finding "Do Nothing: used to block pre-defined accelerators" in the function list, and then hitting "Bind" and "apply." I totally agree that it's a huge miss that one cannot more easily toggle all function keys on or off. I still cannot get the keyboard pass-thru to work for plugins like Melodyne, meaning I can't start/stop playback with spacebar if the plugin window is maximized (which it needs to be in order to see properly.) I've been using Cakewalk products for almost 20 years now, I keep a very clean system, and I'm STILL spending a big part of each day futzing with crashes and weird app behavior. I wish they would just fix stuff.

Something is not right.  I cannot name and save a patch in Zebra or Aalto.  I can rename in Zebra in the top left box but it does not save from the upper left box.  Using the main save button jumps through the keybindings as the previous poster detailed.  If I add a number in the name, or enter a number in a parameter, Sonar jumps to a new scene.  It would seem that if I am activating a parameter in a VST that Sonar's underlying keybindings should not dominate. I like to have some of the features in Sonar, but these are my two current main synths and these issues are not present in Reaper.

Click the small keyboard icon in the upper area of the plug-in window to give that plug-in the keyboard focus.

The "give all keystrokes" option is broken by the way some third party cross platform plug-ins spawn windows. ATM the only way around this issue is cut-and-paste into the child window entry fields.

I don't think Sonar attempts to sandbox* the VST plugin so I agree with Scook. I can't see any way around this other than knock on the door of the third party developers.

* I always wondered why sandboxing isn't isn't possible with VST's, could be useful in improving Sonar's stability. I am assuming the trade off is performance, or the VST spec gets in the way of this, or it is just far too complex to do.

That's what I'm trying to say as well.  Reaper does not have this problem.  The suggested workarounds do not work for serious sound editing for sound design and composing with VST synths.

I have failed at being humorous. :-(

That sentence would be very appropriate for the cat in your avatar!
PS You made me smile...
