As you all know by now, Sonar X4 came out on September 23, and was sold in a limited edition bundle with a free HP laptop sporting a custom sunburst finish.

It would seem that the sunburst laptop is not all that far fetched...having seen the Gibson logo'd flame maple & sunburst fronted studio monitors at AES.

(And...no...I'm not makin' this up.)

And when the Apple acquisition is complete...

Ya know, Apple gives away their DAW to sell their hardware.  I love CW, but it's hard to compete w/ free.  It's hard for software companies to compete w/ free.  It's hard for record companies to compete w/ free.  It's hard for songwriters to compete w/ free.

Yeah, we can sell coffee mugs and t-shirts, but now the venues want a big chunk of that... the 'real stuff'.

Have we all become virtual buskers?

Just sayin'...

Apple bundles GarageBand for free, it's not really comparable to Sonar. It's more like a lite version of Sonar being included with an audio interface.

Logic costs $199.99 and there is no upgrade path...if a new version comes out, you buy the new version.

btw, Gibson should cash in on a ProChannel plug-in modeled after their guitars played through different amps. (Marshall, Peavey 5150, Les Paul, Fender Twin, etc.) There's some options here...
