I have figured out when I'm getting audio drop outs.

It happens when the system is idle. I can loop play a song for 10 minutes straight and switch between vst's and a bunch of other super processor intensive stuff, but once I stop playing for at least 10 seconds, that's when it drops out.

Troubleshooting steps so far:
  1. All ASIO buffer settings
  2. All firewire latency settings
  3. A bunch of disk read/write cache settings
  4. The cpu park reg trick
  5. Disabled all other audio drivers (Including the AMD audio driver and the motherboard driver in the bios).
  6. Disabled the Intel speed step in the bios.
  7. And I'm 64 from here to the last great mario kart.
So, what process or change is happening after the audio playback stream has stopped for a few seconds?

Check Windows for background processes that use "idle time" to execute, for example Windows backup..
