I have Sonar X3 studio and Sonik Synth 2 and for some reason Sonik Synth 2 doesn't appear in the VST list in Sonar X3 Studio. It works as a standalone program, but it won't appear in Sonar. I tried reinstalling and deleting all files in my programs folder and reinstalling the program and the sounds and it still doesn't work. Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks.

Make sure the plug-in dll is in the SONAR VST scan path. The scan path is maintained in Preferences > File > VST Settings. Most VST2 installers provide an option to specify where the plug-in dll is installed. If the path is not in SONAR preferences either copy the plug-in into the existing scan path or add the path to preferences.

I'll check out the scan path later, but I do want to mention that the sonik synth dll was in the vstplugins folder along with other instruments and effects before I completely uninstalled ss2 and deleted it's instrument sounds and then reinstalled. After the reinstall, ss2 still didn't show up in the vst list. I'm unsure if the scan path was correct, so I'll look into that, thanks.

I checked the scan path and it's the correct path for where all the VST's are located and where the sonik synth 2 dll is located. The problem still persists after scanning again. There's an .ini file for sonik synth 2 in the vstplugins folder as well, does anyone know if that has anything to do with my issue?

Are your IK plug ins in the x86 program files folder? These older IK plug-ins are 32 bit. They may need to be there for bit bridge to pick up the correct path.
Also, I had to set them to run as admin. Once that was done, my old IK plug-ins have been fine.

Is this a 32bit or 64bit SONAR install? There are quite a few reports of problems running 32bit IKM synths in 64bit SONAR. One thing to try is running SONAR as Administrator. Another solution is to install 32bit SONAR. Both 32 and 64bit SONAR can run on the same PC. It also may be a good idea to contact IKM support.

Do you know how I can check for if the plug in are in the x86 program files folder? My PC is 32-bit windows 8.1 pro.

I assume it's a 32-bit install because I have 32 bit win 8.1 pro.

I did have it as run as administrator once before reinstalling everything, and it wasn't showing up as well.

I might end up contacting IKM. Thanks for everyone's advice.

I never had any issues running the 32 bit IK stuff but granted it was on 64 bit windows 7 and 64 bit sonar. I know it probably is little help but I can definately confirm that that current releases of sonik (and the other sampletank based 32 bit plugs) do work just fine in both 64 and 32 bit sonar x3e I had them running myself right up until ST3 launced.

Good luck finding the problem.

I've sent a support ticket to IK Multimedia to try to resolve the issue and will wait on that for now. I tried to manually scan the vstplugins folder in the Cakewalk directory and it found Sonik Synth 2, but gave me an error saying something about "Main Call", and it asked me if I wanted to enable or disable the plugin. I tried enabling the plugin, but it still didn't show up in the vst instruments list. It did however show up under the FX list and I tried enabling it as an effect on a regular track and it didn't work as it gave me some kind of error and asked me if I wanted to report it to Cakewalk, and it also crashed Sonar.

I've attached a picture of the "Main Call" error while doing the VST scan for Sonik Synth 2.
