This was just announced during the 129th AES convention in LA, under the "Workstation Technology" category. SONAR has been nominated for the 2014 TEC award for technical excellence. Just to be nominated and recognized as a leading DAW in 2014 is a nice accomplishment!

Nominees will be recognized and winners announced during Winter NAMM 2015. I must admit I was a bit skeptical at first, but I really like the direction Cakewalk has taken since Gibson and Craig have taken the helm.

Kudos to the Bakers! We all know what a great DAW SONAR X3 is, but nice to know that peers in the professional audio industry recognize it as such, as well!

Cheers,

Thanks, but I really don't deserve credit for Cakewalk's direction. However Henry Juszkiewicz deserves much credit for letting Cakewalk be Cakewalk, and offering what I feel is some extremely astute advice. The other Gibson Brands  companies, especially TASCAM, have also been very supportive.

Of course I do contribute in a variety of ways, mostly with content, helping with copy, being a "second set of eyes," working with the tech team on fixes, evaluating features, etc. However I did that kind of thing before the acquisition...I just get to do it much more now, and in a more official capacity.

The Cakewalk team is a great group of people who are very talented and extremely dedicated to their products. It's wonderful that their new environment is a good fit; X3's continued evolution bears that out.

I looked at the list and jumped for joy. The biggest reason was that Pro Tools was not nominated. I believe we are at the crossroads to bigger and better things. Especially Sonar X? will be a knock out.

PT 11 won the 2013 workstation category.  Nothing but point releases for that product in this time frame so it is appropriate that it wasn't nominated.

That said.  Congratulations to the SONAR team for being nominated.  Best of luck for the final result.  You've got quite a bit of competition from Studio One and Reaper.  The field of nominees is strong.
