Hello,
I'm running X3e Pro, and trying to export to MP3 using the LAME encoder. I did this successfully many times in X1 and X2 and am using the same command line variables in X3. But I am getting the following message, and Sonar will not complete the export process.

"The MP3 encoder must be unlocked before use. Please visit ... to upgrade a previous encoder, or to purchase a new encoder"

It seems like Sonar/Cakewalk is trying to force me to purchase the Soundcloud encoder.  What's up with this?

Just find the activation file you had and rerun it. As long as you purchased Cakewalk's activation, it should work. I know that there are two version. One for the 32bit and another for the 64bit.

Hi Guitarpima,

I never purchased it from Cakewalk, so no license. But after I posted the original post above, I have been looking at several threads on the forum related to this, and am coming to the conclusion that the $10 will be work it to just be done with this hassle.

As far as other export formats, I can export to WAV without a license, been doing much of that. I think I can with FLAC as well.  So, is MP3 the only one that requires the license?

I just got over my cheapness and bought it. Life is much easier now.

A late tip: to use the Lame encoder you gotta choose "Lame MP3" instead of "MP3" as the file type.

But I'm happy I bought the encoder license as well. Nice to have the encoding options menu built into SONAR.
