Old thread alert: this thread is over 9 years old.

Adding an effect plug-in to a track is nondestructive. Applying the effect by bouncing the track is destructive.

Conrad, please check the audio folder for the project you are working with. Bouncing a clip/track applies effects to the audio and creates a new clip ("destructive"); however, SONAR does not delete the original audio wave file that was created. Most likely you still have that audio file (which is also why I manually save prior to destructive edits).

There are a couple things to try... Try adding a new audio track to the project, then right click and "Import audio"... drill into the Audio subfolder and look for the track number/name of the wav file you inadvertently bounced... these are numbered sequentially in (), so pick one with a lower number. Also, with project saves, you should be able to open an earlier version of the project.

If you have $399 and aren't adverse to using plug-ins that seem more like magic, there's Zynaptiq's Unveil. It's pretty amazing in terms of nuking reverb.

Zynaptiq is a company to watch...very sharp people with some pretty amazing programs.

SPL deverb works to a point, ymmv depending on the material you are working on. I have used it to take some "room" off dodgy vocal and acoustic guitar recordings before but you gotta be careful not to overdo it or everything starts sounding nasty.

iZotope RX also has a reverb removal feature. And there's DeVerberate from Acon Digital.
