Sorry Karyn, I considered posting this in the Deals forum but decided to throw caution to the wind and post it here instead.  I like to live dangerously…

I jest, I just thought it something that Sonar users would benefit from being aware of.

It's a great deal and I've been hoping it'd be brought back to the Cake store for a long time.
I just hope it's still running when I get paid in a couple of weeks!

LOL Right! I wont be buying this pack as long as they keep the iLok requirement. If iLok wasn't required, I would buy this bundle. Good job by Waves for droping that iLok crap! Now, Softube needs to wise up.

I bought all the ProChannel modules that don't require iLok. I didn't buy SONAR X2, as I was off-line for a year and a half and when I returned, X3 was out, but if Cakewalk sold the R-Mix SONAR module, separately, I would buy that ProChannel module, too.

As always, I'm very appreciative and thankful that Cakewalk doesn't use the iLok copyprotection for any of their software.

I bought the bundle last time it was on special but I hardly ever use it because of the ilok requirement. Can I now use them without the ilok, do I have to re register them, how do I go about this?

It still uses iLok copy protection but dropped the dongle requirement. The iLok License Manager must be installed on the PC and the PC must connect to the internet to acquire the license keys from iLok. The keys are stored on the PC (or a dongle if you wish). I would suggest contacting Softube support if you purchase the product while it still required a dongle. You may need an update to the software.

OK, now I'm confused.

The support section of Softube's website repeats many, many times that all their products (except a very few, and this bundle isn't one of them) absolutely require an ilok dongle.

Ilok say you can "transfer" licenses to your computer if the software vendor permits this. Whatever "transfer" means in this context.

Softube make no mention of transfering licenses to computer, they just say you have to have an ilok.

The Softube page is not accurate at least WRT the Softube Mix Bundle. See Andrew's comment above and the information in the CW store. There is no dongle requirement. iLok is still the copy protection method so you  must create an account at the iLok site. You can use a dongle if you wish or use the iLok License Manager to maintain the licenses directly on the PC (similar to NI Service Center). How many installations and if licenses can be transferred between PCs is at the vendors discretion. If the vendor allows multiple installations and/or license transfers between machines, the iLok License Manager handles the license installations/transfers. The License Manager is a piece of software which connects to the internet and provides a drag and drop interface to move licenses between the iLok website and your PCs.

I can confirm you don't need the dongle... just the iLok License Manager and a computer. I was surprised as well :)
