  • "Zero controllers on stop" not working - Solved

Hi Guys,

I'm setting up Sonar on a new computer.  When play stops on midi tracks the sustain off doesn't engage.  I have to manually press the sustain pedal (down-release) on every stop.  Which is a big nuisance for me.  Checking or unchecking the "Zero controllers on stop" in preferences makes no difference either way.

Any ideas what's going on?  I'm using X3e pro 64bit on windows 7 home premium SP1 64bit.

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Bump - I'm thinking there may be some cakewalk.ini command that might be applied?

Also my midi input is a M-Audio USB controller.  This is what my devices input looks like:

If I uncheck either of the 2 boxes, the keyboard doesn't interface at all.  But with both boxes checked it works fine, except for zero controllers not working.  There's no duplicate notes or controllers.  So I don't think this is the problem... but I throw it out there.

Any ideas?

Hi Ian,

It's possible an .ini flag is effecting this behavior, however there are no specific settings that ignore pedal on stop. I suspect you are getting stuck notes on stop. Try raising the playback buffers to 500 or more in Preferences - MIDI - Playback and recording.

If the problem persists please answer the following:

1. What device or plugin are you sending MIDI to.
2. Did this always occur or is it new to this new setup?
3. Is this during playback, recording or both?
4. Is this specific to a project or can you make this occur in any project?

I was basically just testing my new system using 1 plugin and it seems the behavior is specific to that plugin - AAS Lounge Lizard. - So it looks like I'm ok, just can't use Lounge Lizard.  And BTW, raising playback buffers doesn't help for LL.  Thanks much for your help Dan.
