  • Can undocked console view not be always on top? - Solved

Hi Guys,

I'm setting up X3e on a new computer.  I want my undocked console view to go behind the undocked track view when selecting the track view.  I can't figure out how to make this happen.

Currently, I have to collapse the console view to see the track view.  I want the views to behave like windows would in windows XP or 7 and I can't figure it out.  I know it's got to be something simple...

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Use your screen sets to set up one for your CV and TV, then just toggle using the number keys,
Or Put CV in multidock and float in, maximise window, maximise and minimise the Multidock with D

Thanks Freex.  That's actually a great keyboard command I didn't know.  That might very well end up being my first option.

However, on my old computer I had the views windows behaving like regular windows windows.  So I know it can be done.  I just don't remember how I set it up...

Peace,

Ian

ctrl-tab not working? that's the standard windows key-combo for iterating through open child windows, works in 8.5.x but i don't have an x-version installed to check that

I thought it was ALT + Tab - that's what I use to switch between Word and Chrome and Notepad or whatever is open.

I usually keep it docked and use a combination of "D" and "SHIFT-D". To do what I believe you want
  1. undock the console view
  2. click the icon in the upper left of the floating console and select "Disable Floating"
  3. maximize the console or track view inside SONAR
  4. toggle between the views using ALT-1 and ALT-2

None of those suggestions work although I'm happy knowing the 'd' and 'shift-d' commands.  Probably better than the views-as-windows that I used to use.

I think the solution might be a cakewalk ini command, although  I have no idea what the actual command might be.

Thanks much guys,

Peace,

Ian

Hey Ian . . . As lawp says above -  (I'm on Windows 7) and I've always used the Ctrl-TAB windows key command to toggle between Track View and Console View . . . works great, so I've never needed to buy that second monitor.

I prefer to leave my multidock (with "D" key command) for popping between soft synths, staff view and PRV view.
I think the trick is to have all the windows "half maximized" if that makes any sense ?
Wish I could figure out a screen shot here, but basically both Track View and Console View fill the whole screen, with the window control (top right) in the restore position.

Also, on my system Ctrl-F6 does the same thing.
Another option would be to use the Sonar screensets feature to toggle between.
