IF I remember right the console view is the first thing in my dock.  You have to add another docked item before you can "float" the console view.  However, I always leave the console docked, so I'm not sure about that.

When I was testing the solution, only the console view was in the mutlidock. There is no requirement for a second docked view. A single view can be undocked from the multidock.
