I have created a sonar project and added a two mini tracks. I have set them to use a Dimension Pro instrument for the output. Picked the grand piano. I am entering my music through the staff view. I created the melody and the piano arrangement at the piano. When I play what I have entered back, it drops out notes here and there. Anyone know why and how to fix. I also noticed that sometimes when I am adding a note, here and there it won't sound. Tried clicking it again, to see if that would stop the dropouts. But it did not. I have looked at some of the notes that don't sound, and I don't see any difference between the ones that sound and the ones that don't. I'm not positive, but sometimes it seems like it drops out the same notes. But then the next time you play it, some of those same notes will sound.
 
I also wondered if there is any way to move a rest. Sometimes they end up right on a note. Also, is there anyway to change the way the stem points?
 
I have been reading the manual, but I haven't found the answer to the above questions...yet.

To stop dropping notes try increasing the "Prepare Using nnn Millisecond Buffers" in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording from 250 to 500 or 750

I'm not using the staff view myself so I can't help you there.

About the note drop outs though.. What audio interface do you have? And what drivers are you using? I'd recommend using ASIO drivers if your audio interface supports that and if it doesn't you could try asio4all.

Investing in an audio interface made for music production is something you really should consider, if you don't have one already.

As you may have noticed, the staff view is very under-developed.
 
If you view what you've entered using piano roll instead you should be able to see where two notes (of the same pitch) overlap each other.  This is a bad thing because MIDI doesn't track which notes are playing, it is just a sequence of Note-on / Note-off instructions. if you enter the same note twice in succession but get the timing a fraction early on the second note it will not sound because it is being stopped by the Note-off command from the first one.
 
It would be nice to be able to write/compose using only the staff view, but it needs a lot of work first.  Something we've been calling for for a long time.

Changing that setting to 500 fixed the drops outs I was getting. Still got alot to learn, I know.
