Hello Everyone,

I'm trying out Sonar X3 demo to see if it will be compatible with my Setup.
So far, I'm blown away with it (Georgeous UI, Smart Zoom, Docking windows, x64 & VST3 Support, In-Line Midi Editing).

But I have 1 issues with the Cakewalk Plugins Manager :
 I don't understand why it didn't load the following DirectX Plug-ins :
- Antares Tube
- BBE Sonic Maximize
- Trevor Magnusson Bass Chorus / Water Glass
- Timeworks Phaser Model88 / Reverb 4080L
Indeed these particular plugins are only available in DirectX, and they're discontinued so my only change to work with them is to have them loaded in DirectX.

Is there anything I have to do to force it to discover these DirectX Plug-ins ? Registry tweak ? Cache folder to erase ?

If you are running 64bit SONAR, the plug-ins will not be available. There is no such thing as a bridge for 32bit DX plug-ins. Some have had limited success running 32bit DX plug-ins in a DX-to-VST wrapper then loading the wrapped plug-ins in BitBridge or jBridge.
 
If you are running 32bit SONAR, try running SONAR as administrator.

This is the only one I have used http://xlutop.com/buzz/zip/dxshell_v1.0.4b.zip and I have not used it in some time. If you are wedded to these plug-ins, you are better off running 32bit SONAR. This too is a short term solution. There will come a day when Windows drops 32bit support altogether (sooner than we might imagine). The better solution is to find 64bit replacements ASAP.

Yes hopefully we leave the era of the limited 32-bit world.
Indeed, there's alot of choice nowdays to replace these 10 years-old plugins (but sometime it's a sentimental thing).

I would not expect much from the wrapper but if it works, great. Consider posting your results either way in this thread. Because the plug-ins are so old, in addition to wrapping the plug-ins SONAR may need to run as administrator. Right-click the SONAR icon and select the "Run As Administrator" option or for a more permanent setting click the Compatibility tab and check the "Run this program as an administrator" option.
 
FWIW, both 32bit and 64bit versions of SONAR may be installed at the same time on 64bit Windows. This may be the most reliable solution while transitioning to a 64bit DAW.

As asked, here's my report:
The DXShell works like a charm. It works like Waveshell (a shell developped by Waves Plugins) which is very stable.

I wanted to start a new thread but I didn't want to flood, but :
Is there a way to assign a keyboard shortcut key to turn on/off in-line midi editing (the "notes" drop-down menu on midi tracks) ?

In Acid Pro I have a G shortcut to turn on/off in-line midi editing, and F shortcut to show/hide volume stems of the notes. It makes my midi editing workflow faster.

Sorry, don't know an existing shortcut or binding opportunity. I work in the Piano Roll View. If it helps at all "T" or clicking the mouse wheel in a track will bring up the HUD which has the Edit Filter drop down just like the track header.

I assume you're talking about the inline editor in Track View, not the piano roll editor...if that's the case, there's no shortcut per se but if you hold Shift and right-click on the inline MIDI editor in the track, it will toggle between that and the last edit filter setting. This is GREAT for toggling back and forth between clips and notes. But it also toggles between the two most recent states in any track, not just MIDI tracks. So for example with audio, you can toggle easily between clips and audio transients or whatever.

Yes I was talking about switching between "Clip" view and "Notes" view.
Look how quickly I get into the "In-Line Midi Editing" mode with Acid hitting the "G" shortcut :

And hitting "F" I can show up the Volume Stem, as quickly :
