I recently upgraded Sonar X1 Producer to Sonar X3 Producer.  When the dust settled X1 is still on my computer.  Can anyone please comment.  What am I missing?

Previous installations are never removed by an upgrade.
 
There are very good reasons for leaving previous versions installed and not removed from your system.
 
Just make sure you download the latest patch (X3e) and do a full VST scan/reset
 

X1 should still be on your machine unless you ran the uninstall process for X1. Each version of SONAR installs in a separate directory. There are some shared utilities and plug-ins which get overwritten with the upgrade. It would be a good idea to leave prior versions installed. Should you ever want to delete an older version of SONAR, it is best to do it BEFORE installing a new upgrade.
