Hi everyone,

(English its not my langage, excuse me if i'm hard to understood...)

I make some update this week.

Before i work on : Sonar X1 LE 32bits

Now I buy Sonar X3 Producer 64 bits to be able to use correctly a VST (EZdrummer 2 64 bits).

The problem : I have a bundle of plughins from Waves (Mercury bundle) since many years(10 to 15 years).  It work on 32 bits, of course. I never had problems with them.

Now 75% of my plugins don't want to be show on the sonar X3. Because its on 64 bits ? Because the pugins are too old ?

I have a messge like " could not find any waves Plug-ins. PLease reinstall Waves plug-ins in order to use waveshell"

Its appears for two parts of the bundle : waveshell-vst 5.0.dll and waveshell-vst 5.2.dll

Someone can help me ???

Yeah, unfortunately, you probably won't get help with Waves 5.x versions. Using such an old version likely hasn't been tested. Plus, there is a true mass-load of fixes and updates to the WaveShell and plug-ins that even the previous 9.x version are iffy at times. I'm guessing WUP wasn't something you were paying for? If that's the case, I'm truly sorry. I know how expensive Mercury is, but you can at least purchase the WUP and see how much Waves would charge you to upgrade to 9.x

i think waves maxes out their update plan at 300 bucks per account, so that is the most you would be looking at to upgrade.

i have v7 maserati collection stuck in 32 bit land that they want $100 for to upgrade to v9 64 bit. thinking of getting letting them go anyway.

I'm pretty sure WUP will let you upgrade to the latest greatest Mercury which should include a whole bunch of new toys in adddition to 64 bit and X3 compatibility. But yeah, you'd have to fork over another 300.

Good point! +1. Yes, there are some REALLY good new plug-ins available in v9 Mercury. Those alone are worth way more than $300, adding that to the 64-Bit native format. If that's all it takes, I definitely say it's worth $300.

This is one reason why I don't have a problem with the WUP system (so many people seem to hate it). It does favor the larger bundles I guess but at the same time upgrading a smaller bundle also resets your WUP so it's like a 300 buck discount if you want to renew WUP anyway.

WUP is atrocious. Keeping plugins up to date with currents standards is not something that a company should be charging for. New plugins and features, fair enough, but willfully withholding a workable version to squeeze a few extra bucks out of your customer base is dickish. (confession: i just bought MannyM's Reverb).

There you go. Q.E.D.
We disagree, obviously, but I don't want to shift the focus of the thread even more away from the OP. It's certainly a good deal for him.
