  • Sonar 8.5 Producer: Repair .cwp Projects

I've just recently recovered some .cwp projects that I thought I lost three years ago. However, when I attempt to open them in Sonar, I get the message: "Could not open file. The file may be damaged or incompatible with this version of Sonar. You may attempt to recover the file in Safe Mode by holding down the shift key while opening it.".  I've tried that, but unfortunately it won't open that way either. The message about being incompatible with this version of Sonar is rather strange, as the files and projects were made in Sonar 8.5.3.282, and the version I have installed on my computer right now is that exact same version, Sonar 8.5.3.282. Is there a way for me to get it fixed? Also, the .wav files that come with this project, according to a friend of mine, Bill White, have missing headers. How do I fix those without being able to see? Is there a software that is screenreader compatible, which can allow blind and sighted customers alike to repair Cakewalk projects and fix broken audio files? Is there an email address where I can send these problematic projects and files for examination by the tech support specialists?

Were they made with the 32-bit version of Sonar, and you're trying to load it on the 64 bit version?

There is no more tech support. Gibson closed down Cakewalk and sold the Software code to Bandlab.

Will the audio files open in a WAVE editor?
If you don't have one you can use A freebie like
Wavosaur    https://www.wavosaur.com/
Gold Wave    http://www.goldwave.ca/release.php
Audacity     https://www.audacityteam.org/download/

Ther's not much you can do about corrupted files,, These were not saved as Bundles by any chance?

If you are okay sharing a cwp file, azslow3 would be the best person to ask to look at one of them. He is a forum member who has done a lot to create a converter to reaper so may be able to help you, since he has done a lot of work to understand the cwp format.

The community has been in sore need of a "cwp repair tool" forever.

No, they were made with the 64 Bit version, and that's the one I'm trying to load them back into.

They're not really corrupt. The audio is still intact from what my friend said, just there's missing headers. I've tried opening them in both Gold Wave and Audacity, but all I get is very loud static, when I know there's supposed to be audio data in there. What do I do next?
