I was messing with an old midi file of mine and it has a real good bass line. I have been re doing everything with real bass but I thought, this one might sound better with midi.
So looking for a decent bass sound started taking a long time as I loaded all the Sonar VST's and demoed them.
I hadn't paid close attention to my plug in list as I have my 3 or 4 go to's and I spotted 2 instances of Bass Station at the top of the VST list. When I clicked on one Sonar crashed. I don't think I've had a crash for over a year now!
I don't see Bass Station on my list of Sonars included instruments so where did it come from? I do have 8.5 but I don't remember it from there. My only other software is Wave Lab which doesn't include soft synths.
I don't really want it, but now it's a mystery. I have not even demoed any other DAWS on this computer.
Is this Novation Bass Station?

PS why do bass patches all sound  so terrible? They seem to focus on slap and trebley sounding growls, almost distorted, then some are like a tuned fart! I swear the TTS-1 basses are almost better than most. Only thing that seems convincing is Dim Pro Accoustic. The SI was close but needs EQ work to get rid of the overtones.

It's by Novation. You probably installed a Focusrite software bundle at some point.

Have you checked out my EB5 5-string bass expansion pack for Dim Pro? I designed it for the most natural sound possible, so it really lends itself to processing with EQ, dynamics, amp sims, etc. I don't have to use it, but it's the only bass I use any more. Before that, I used the Kontakt Scarbee basses, which are excellent (especially the Rickenbacker).

If you have version 1 of bass station with the Focusrite you can upgrade to version 2.
I use it and I love it even though I have all the Sonar soft synths and NI Komplete Ultimate. I guess I like fart noises...

Cheers....

Well I guess the question I should now ask - Has anybody else used those downloads with out issues? I know there's a million of us Focusrite users here.

I'm sure I registered them, but hmm, one would think it would ask for a registration not just totally crash Sonar. I'm gunna go try my back up computer system...
