Sony with Vegas and Sound Forge. DX is not dead yet.

But are any of the dx effects with Soundforge and Vegas new? Most of the effects in Sony Products are older than Sonitus or third party VST. Not knocking them. They still work great. I was just curious what the likelihood of seeing new dx fx are.

Well they upgraded them to 64 bit for Vegas.

I'll take that as a no.

DirectX is what I call a "zombie format." It's dead, but lives forever.

BTW last time I talked with Cakewalk about the Sonitus effects, they said they have no intention of dropping them and expect them to continue being part of Sonar.

Excellent! It's great to hear all of your positivity! I'll learn to stop worrying, but I'll continue to try other compressors because it's good for my soul. Thanks all.

iZotope still develops DX plug-ins

Hate to hijack the this thread but since moving over to Sonar X3 Studio 64 bit I have not been able run Trash 1 32bit DX. I know that bitbridge is supposed to work for 32bit VST but I have the DX version of Trash. I contacted Izotope and they state they no longer support it. I know Trash 2 is out but loved my Trash 1. Has anyone gotten 64 bit X3 working with Trash 32 bit DX?

Back on-topic, I too love the ease of use of the Sonitus Compressor and all the rest of the suite for that matter. I still prefer them over most other plugins, esp the compressor, delay, phaser.

There is no bridge for 32bit DX plug-ins. The best solution for using 32bit DX plug-ins is a 32bit host. Some have reported success using a VST wrapper like http://xlutop.com/buzz/zip/dxshell_v1.0.4b.zip. The wrapper will allow 32bit DX plug-ins to load in a VST bridge. I have not seen reports of this method used with iZotope plug-ins.

Maybe this DX wrapper will help: http://www.kvraudio.com/f../viewtopic.php?t=177538

I feel the time is right for Cakewalk to stop distributing DX plugins. I also feel the same about 32 bit Sonar versions and including 32 bit plugins. Time for a spring clean!!!

Of course they should not withdraw support for running DX plugins or 32 bit plugins so people can continue to use them (and there is a 100% chance that will happen).

And yes overhauled VST3 versions of Sonitus are long overdue, maybe Pro Channel versions would be nice.
