So I've imported a WAV file (X3e) that is 6 min long and I'm trying to shrink it down to 4 min.  What I have done is to first established markers on the time line for quick reference denoting Verse 1, Chorus 1, V2, Ch 2, Bridge ect . . . .
 
Then, I split two sections in the file and deleted the region between the split points.  What I would like to happen is for the markers that were in the deleted region to also have been deleted.  This would allow me to then slide the split region (Markers included) to the right to merry up with the remaining region.  This is not happening when deleting and sliding the regions.  Is this possible?  If so, what am I doing wrong?

Are you looking for the DELETE HOLE method?
 
The Edit > Delete Special command opens the Delete dialog box... 
Delete Hole
If selected, the Delete Hole option removes the space in the track where the clip(s) had been. All clips after the deleted clip(s) are moved forward in time by the length of the deleted clip(s). Checking the Shift by Whole Measures option causes SONAR to move the following clips forward, but only as far as the nearest whole measure.
 

Ok, not on Sonar so I can't check the exact steps. But If I remember correctly you can use the keyboard and hold Control, Alt and X, this will open a special window where you can cut the selected region and choose other things like marker and control data, tempo etc. 
 
Now that the section you want gone is cut, do the same thing with the remaining part of the song you want to move, Cut it out in the same fashion then paste it back in where you want it.
 
of course you will have had to select all the desire tracks as well, and when pasting be sure to select the top most track so the pasted ones all go back on the intended tracks.
